A Quebec project to help reforest Haiti
Deforestation, caused in particular by the production of charcoal, is a glaring problem in Haiti. In the north of the country, a Quebec company and NGO are leading a project to counter the trend by planting fast-growing, energy-efficient trees. Reforestation regenerates soils so that they can be cultivated again, and captures carbon dioxide.
